For my 2nd semester 10th grade Spanish class, I was assigned a project called: Propaganda Imperativo. The essential question of this project was; How can we use language and art to incite positive change in our communities? In this project we were required to combine two elements: Language & Art. For the language piece of our poster, we first had to learn about Spanish commands: Informal affirmative & negative tu commands and formal affirmative & negative usted commands. We also had to choose a topic that we would base our poster around; some of those topics were: identity, masculinity, femininity, gender, and etc. For the art part of the project, we had to design/draw an image that went along with our command. Our final project was to be an 8.5 x 11 in. poster.
My image is made up of Mexican leaders, LGBT, and artists. I chose the phrase, "Sea Mexicano Y Orgulloso," because the topic I based my poster around was Mexican identity. The phrase translated means, "Be Mexican and Proud."
